Preparing For Our Challenge Step 2: Diet

Visit my Beachbody Coach Site!

We are 8 days out from starting our 60 Day Challenge! I am getting really excited to start and have been practicing my PiYo moves so I can help you along the way. Exercise is important during our challenge, for sure. I would say, however, that your DIET is going to be just as important if not more important over the next 60 days. You absolutely cannot eat what ever you want and expect to regain your health by simply adding exercise. Great health starts with what you put into your body to fuel it and nourish it.

So what can you do to prepare? Regardless of the Beachbody Challenge Pack you purchase, all of the diet plans recommend that you eat whole foods. So what is a whole food? It is a food that comes from the ground or animal that is not processed or very, very minimally processed. Larabars are examples of foods that are very, very minimally processed. Knowing this is what you are going to be eating solely for the next 60 days, it is a good idea to start eating more whole foods now and slowly trying to increase your intake every day until the challenge starts. Go out and buy vegetables and lean meats that you know you already enjoy eating and have one meal per day that is made entirely of these ingredients. No processed foods. No added sugar. Nothing that isn't on the diet plan.

While you are increasing your intake of whole foods and foods recommended on your diet plan, you should start to decrease things you know you won't be able to eat. If every day you enjoy a chocolate chip cookie (or three) or bowl of ice cream, let's work on eliminating those things now. I would recommend cutting one to two processed or off plan foods from your diet every day. Taking these steps will allow you to make the transition to eating entirely from your meal plan over an entire week as opposed to having to make such a huge change in one day. It will also prepare your body for clean eating. If you choose not to do this, your detox phase - which is the few days it takes your body to transition to whole foods and eliminate built up toxins - will be longer and much more painful.

I would also recommend starting to toss out the things in your pantry and refrigerator that you know you shouldn't be eating or won't be able to eat after next week. Please don't eat them! If you feel like you need to give them away so they don't go to waste, that is a better option than putting those things into your body now. Get rid of that junk!

This is an exciting time! A healthier lifestyle is so worth the work it takes to make the transition. If you prepare yourself now for the big changes ahead, those changes won't feel quite so big and you will able to ensure your success over the entire 60 day period.

I am so looking forward to digging into this Challenge with you! Thanks for entering into this time with me! Here's to a healthier YOU!

Preparing for Your Challenge Step 1: Commit!

Good Afternoon, Challengers! As you are beginning to prepare for your challenge, there are some steps that you should take to help ensure your success. The very first and most important step is to COMMIT!

Hopefully, you have purchased your challenge pack. You know what workout you want to do for the next 60 days and you have your fitness/health goal in mind. Now, you need to promise YOURSELF that you are going to stick to this workout and lifestyle change for 60 days. Doing this will more than guarantee your success. If you get your mind right now - today - this second - that you are going to stick with this challenge you will succeed.

As I have been talking with women about Beachbody and why they think they can't commit to a work out routine, I hear over and over again that the time commitment is what keeps them from moving forward. No one - not any one - thinks they have the time to commit to themselves. We are all so busy with our kids, with ministries, with jobs, with life to give ourselves 30 minutes. And let's face it - after everything you do for your families each day, you are TIRED. I get it. TRUST me. I get it.

But consider this: exercising and changing your eating habits will actually give you  MORE ENERGY. I know this to be fact as well! Not only will it give you more energy and help you feel better about you, it will also improve your mood. My kids know when I am in a foul mood one of two things hasn't gone down that day: I either haven't had my quiet time, or I haven't had my workout.

So, if you are still considering completing a Beachbody Challenge or if you aren't sure if you can fully commit for any reason, let me encourage you. YOU CAN DO THIS! It is okay to take this time for yourself. It is okay to commit to spending 30 minutes on YOU each day to improve your health, your well-being, to build self-confidence and to make sure you are around to take care of those families you love so dearly. What better gift could you give your kids than your good health and a good example for them to follow?

Today, as you consider your preparations - fully COMMIT. Completely. Agree to give this challenge 100%. You won't regret it!

Welcome! Only Two Weeks to Our Challenge!

Hi! Welcome to Mom of Four Gets Fit! I'm Tricia and I am a new Beachbody Coach. I will be chronicling my journey through my first PiYo Beachbody Challenge and hopefully inspiring you to do the same!

Before we start talking fitness, I would like to tell you a little about myself and why I became a Beachbody Coach. The first thing you should know about me is that I love Jesus. When I say I love Jesus, I mean that I follow Him. With my life, with my heart, with everything I do - I do it like I am doing it for Jesus. That will include anything I do here - I will do it to the best of my ability because I am doing it for Jesus. If you ever, ever want to talk more about that or how Jesus saved me, I would LOVE to talk about this with you. Just let me know!

The next thing you should know about me is that I am a happily married mom of four. I love my husband and kiddos with all my heart. They keep me busy, but I adore them all!

Finally, I am committed to my health and fitness. I made a decision after my second child that I wasn't going to let having children decide how much I would weigh or how fit I would be. I had always been an "exerciser," but never a healthy eater and never committed to my own health or well-being. But after that second baby, I just knew that the only way I would ever be healthy is to fully commit. That decision was life changing. Since that then, I have had two more children and it has made all the difference in being able to lose that weight. I have committed to a lifestyle of healthy eating AND exercise. You will NEVER have the body or fitness level that you want without fully committing to both!

Now, why would I become a Beachbody Coach? I am busy. For real. Why would I add this kind of thing to my life? Well, the answer is really simple. I am passionate about health and fitness. I feel like physically, I really am the best version of myself right now. I feel better than I ever have and I know when I have eaten something that is adversely effecting my body/health. I never, ever have to wonder if what I am eating is making me more healthy or less healthy. I know and I can make decisions about what I eat based on that. I control my food and what goes into my body - my cravings and brain chemicals do not control me. Knowing what an outstanding feeling this is - I just want to share it with others. I want YOU to be able to feel what it is like to not be controlled by your food cravings! I want YOU to be able to feel what it is like to know you are healthy and are treating yourself the way you deserve to be treated!

Honestly, that is what this is about. As moms, we give of ourselves constantly. And we should - we should be constantly giving of ourselves to our kids and husbands. However, we can get so wrapped up in giving to others that we treat ourselves poorly. We don't make time to eat healthy, life giving foods. We don't make time to exercise. We don't make time to do good for US! If you do this for too long, though, guess what? You aren't going to be giving your best self to your kids, either! They need you to be treating yourself well so that you can treat them well! I want to inspire other moms to make time for themselves to eat healthy and exercise so they can feel their very best and then give that to their families!

So that is why I'm doing this - to show other moms of one child or 18 of them - that you CAN DO THIS! You can eat healthy foods! You can make time to exercise! YOU ARE WORTH IT! And you will be so happy that you made the decision to commit to your health. I know you will!

Some of you will be doing the Challenge to lose weight. The official Facebook Challenge is called Lose 15 by 2015. However, this challenge isn't only for people who want to lose weight. I don't particularly need to lose any weight. I do, however, want to increase my muscle tone and get my diet back in check after vacation. If you have similar goals - this Challenge is most definitely for you as well!

Over the next two weeks, I'm going to do a couple of things. First, I'm going to share what I am doing to get ready for the Challenge. I'm going to start preparing my body, my pantry and getting things in order to have the most success over the 60 days. 60 days is a long time - we need to be doing everything we can to ensure we will be successful! I'm going to talk you through what that looks like and we are going to get prepared together!

Right before we start, I'll take my before pictures and my body measurements. Then, on October 6 we are going to do this! We will get lean and take control of our fitness!

I really can't wait to get started. I hope that by me demonstrating that this Challenge can be done even if you have kids, even if you don't think you have time, even with all the even ifs - that you will know you can do this, too! See you all soon!!
